I am loving this new collaboration kit called Going Places from One Little Bird Designs and the Ardent Sparrow. The bright and muted colors appeals to me. This kit fit also fit perfectly with this month's story starter theme of "Adventures."

I chose the following story starter: Write about an especially memorable outdoor adventure

Of all of the stories that I could choose, I decided to focus on my husband's adventure to the lake. He rarely gets time to fish and having this time to chill, listen to music and possibly catch some fish was a perfect way for him to spend the day.

cupcards {to go}:: spring kit sneak

Just a quick post to share some of my card creations for the upcoming spring kit from CupCards {to go}. I can't wait for the full reveal tomorrow. This kit is simply stunning...the card bases are a beautiful shimmery blueberry. Definitely a color that is out of my comfort zone but I could not get enough of them. The embellishments and stickers this month are amazing too. As you'll see in my sneaks, I was a huge fan of the banner sticker sentiments and pop dots. I'll share the rest of the cards soon.

bits of sunday 02.10.13

{catching up on documenting sundays} this day was all about home and coffee and homework and organizing. i really do have too much stuff that collects dust. so another purge happened. i kept a few well loved items that i hope to do something with in the near future. it's been such a long time since i made anything memory keeping related in the paper form. this blog currently serves my needs for a few family stories plus a personal journal to keep my thoughts near.

the simple things:: week 6 and 7

week 6 - the weather has been amazing the last few weeks so i've been taking time during my lunch hour to get some fresh air. this was my current view. bring on more spring weather, please!

week 7 - "love day" has come and gone. i took the time to get a few letters written and sent to my favorite people.

I was ecstatic to hear that many of my favorite American Crafts products would now be available in digital format at AC Digitals. I purchased this set of Pebbles patterned paper for their bright colors, graphic and whimsical feel. I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with this color palette.

bits of sunday 02.03.13

our morning started off at 7:30am.

we are not normally early risers (would you call this early?) but we knew with the superbowl this afternoon we wanted to get all of our errands out of the way. we skipped the market in favor of eating breakfast at this sweet little spot near my work. i've passed this place for three years but never dined there; it was definitely a place that i wanted to experience with the family. it was small and quaint...maybe a total of 30 people can fit in the entire establishment. the food was delicious and the plates and mugs reminded me of my mom. i love places like this that take you back to your childhood. after breakfast we stopped off at trader joe's for some fruits/veggies and then a quick stop to the pet store and target. surprisingly...i only walked out of target with socks, which is a lot to be said since i can easily drop a boat load of money there.

the weather has been amazing. we took shiloh on walk, viewed an open house in the neighborhood and i hung valentine lights in the girls rooms. the rest of the day was a blur. i cleaned while the game was on. we watched with anticipation. we cheered with all of our might. then, we felt an enormous loss.

but...there's always next year!

the simple things:: week 4 and 5

week 4 - we had a low key celebration for dre's 37th birthday. the girls and i surprised him with four small delicious cakes from a new bakery in town called "Nothing Bundt Cakes." red velvet for him. chocolate chip for nyna. white chocolate raspberry for me and anna. pecan praline up for grabs. so, so, good!

week 5 - i have to be honest. i have a slight obsession with calendars. planners, wall calendars, desk calendars...you name it, i want it. the stand-up calendar above was a target clearance find. this is a scene from my work desk and this little happy corner makes my space that much more enjoyable.

I want to share a quick post of the new CupCards {to go} Valentines kit. The kits are now on sale along with a limited supply of supplemental kits. It's been a while since I made a card so it felt really good to get my hands busy making again.

real life. no staging. that's what's going on in these photos.

the flu took me out most of the week so this sunday was all about relaxing, sleeping and playing. i did do a load of laundry and tidied up the kitchen, but those chores always seem never ending. our morning started off with waffles for breakfast on a messy couch. i needed the kitchen table for a little crafty session, so everyone ate in different places of the house. nyna joined me and made a couple of cards too. she gave them to her sister; but don't let that kind gesture fool you. the sentiments were hilariously sisterly. oh...siblings! there was a little just dance 4 competition, a little mine craft playing, and a little spongebob watching. then we all headed to the bowling alley for our weekly league game. i bowled well my 2nd game and the guys had a celebratory drink in honor of dre's birthday (i think). another sunday in the books.

bits of sunday 01.20.13

i woke up sunday morning to light streaming into the living room. i'll take what i can get as we don't get much natural light in this house. we stopped at starbucks for coffee, hot chocolate and pastries before heading to the market. as much as i love running errands on my own, i love having everyone there. not only are there more hands to hold the goods but i'm more apt to purchase new stuff rather than the same old thing. afterwards, we stopped by Church's Chicken to pick up lunch for the afternoon before heading to look at model homes. we are definitely ready for a home to call our own. we rushed through the models to make it home in time to watch the Niners game. my nerves were getting the best of me, so i cleaned our room. this is the fruits of my labor. i love fresh flowers. needless to say, we are over the moon ecstatic that the Niners are going to the Super Bowl!
