This is the last school evening event of the year. I love that the PTA sponsors this creative function. It's one of our favorites to attend. Watching parents engage in the activities with their kids is one of the coolest things to see.
I truly believe that creative messes are the best.

My girls.
You can either find them laughing or arguing.
With only two weeks left of school, I'm already thinking about the amount of time they will be spending together. And as much as they enjoy each others company, there are moments that separation is in order.
But when they are truly getting along and I hear their laughter throughout the house, I get a little jealous that I didn't grow up with a sister.

week 17 - she was watering the grass one afternoon. in her jammies and her hair up in a bun, i caught a glimpse of the young woman that she's turning into. i felt a little lump in my throat. i think it was how her hair was falling. just right above her neck. no longer a little girl.
week 18 - my mom loves her garden. she tends to it every morning. there is something about her backyard that is so magical. i feel at peace everytime i walk through this space. it's home.
week 19 - when i pull into the garage these are the first things that i see. it makes me smile everytime.

today called for a sweet treat and to my surprise the girls opted for something else to snack on. well...i sure could not pass up the chance to have this all to myself.

Last inning, two outs left, a pitcher change to Avrey....and everyone's nerves on end. STRIKE 3!!! Man...I love watching my nephew play baseball.

There is a specific horse that she loves. She's called him Prince since she was four. She never tires of the carousel but I know that day will come when she no longer wants to ride it. But for now, I will gladly pay the $2.00 to see her smile and wave as she passes me by.

I was able to get off work a little early and pick up the girls from school. We stopped for some ice cream and then headed home to start our weekend. I love being able to surprise them afterschool once in a while.

We went to the earliest showing of The Hunger Games with Great Grandma Verlean and Auntie Wy. We were happy to see the parking lot empty of people, especially with a much anticipated movie like this one. As we entered, we were surprised to see the theatre so full but not too crowded that we couldn't find seats together. I really do like it this way. Not to mention the early bird pricing makes me happy too.
As for the movie -- I really loved it.

Work trips, although exhausting, do take me to some wonderful places that I've never visited. I had the chance to spend a week in San Diego at a 42-acre resort. To say that my body aches is an understatement. All that walking, talking, greeting and hugging new and old friends is amazing and tiring all in the same breath.
Behind my hotel tower there was this little bridge that led to the mall and some eateries. Beautiful flowers hung above that bridge and I knew immediately that I needed a picture. I took some time to myself to explore the grounds and grab a bite to eat.
I needed that alone time to get back into the swing of things.

You played in your makeshift tent for hours - stocking up on necessities such as your music and the flashlight. A few of your friends even joined you. You were so quiet I almost forgot that you were there. I peeked in and found you sound asleep. I considered letting you sleep there for the night but changed my mind soon after. The tent is still up and has been an awesome space for you to play and get-away.
